I am planning to simplify my guitar rig. It all started with the realization that I didn't need all this stuff to still sound like me. I have known for a long time that I don't need all three patches on the DL-4, and that I can control the amount of distortion with my volume knob, which also works for volume swells. I recently found out that I don't need my chorus pedal if I have a nice modulated delay.
My most recent foray into simplicity is the idea that a wah pedal is not necessary. That one is the hardest for me, because a wah pedal was one of my first effects. It is almost like a different instrument, because it requires skill and finesse. I asked around on bwacksforum.com, and a surprising number of people simply do not use one.
So, here is the plan: I will buy a TC Electronic Nova Delay and build a small pedalboard with four things on it. There will be an a/b box for a tuner mute, a tuner, my MI Audio Tube Zone, and the Nova Delay. Now, that is simplification. I haven't used a rig that simple live in about four years.
So there is a garage sale at my house today, and my cousin was selling the Kevin Prosch CD Reckless Mercy. I've been looking for that, but couldn't find it online.
Honestly, what is with the accordion on Kiss the Son? I can just imagine "Guys, I gotta have more accordion!"
